Abstract
Hemorrhoids are a common anorectal disorder characterized by swelling and inflammation of the veins in the rectal and anal region. The present study focuses on the evaluation of molecular docking studies of phytochemical compounds present in Abutilon indicum to identify their potential activity against hemorrhoids. Abutilon indicum is a medicinal plant widely used in traditional medicine due to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and wound-healing properties.
In this study, selected phytoconstituents of Abutilon indicum were obtained from the PubChem database, and molecular docking analysis was performed to evaluate their interaction with target proteins associated with hemorrhoids. The docking study was carried out using computational tools to predict the binding affinity and interaction between the ligands and the target protein. The interacting residues and binding energies were analyzed to determine the stability of the ligand–protein complex.
The results of the docking analysis revealed that some phytocompounds of Abutilon indicum showed significant binding affinity with the target protein, indicating their possible therapeutic potential against hemorrhoids. These findings suggest that the bioactive compounds present in this plant may act as potential inhibitors and could contribute to the development of new herbal-based treatments for hemorrhoids.
Therefore, this study provides a scientific basis for the traditional use of Abutilon indicum and highlights the importance of molecular docking in drug discovery and development. Further in-vitro and in-vivo studies are required to confirm the pharmacological activity of these compounds
